About Genauris
For too long, patients have been consigned to the role of consumers of their own health information - when they have access to it at all. The fragmented nature of the healthcare industry means data is dispersed and siloed, making efforts to improve care and explore new treatments quite difficult. Genauris is on a mission to change this.
Our first-in-kind "global health marketplace" brings together patients, practitioners, industry, and public health on one platform, dramatically streamlining information sharing, facilitating research collaboration, and changing the conversation on how health data is valued.
The company's unique blockchain tokenization approach to health data transactions ensures patient health records will be secure, globally portable, and directly linked to the value they represent - incentivizing patients to participate in and truly "own" their health outcomes.
Our goal is to reach tens of millions of patients and thousands of practitioners and public health partners globally, with special focus on traditionally underserved communities. As our network grows, we believe the combined health knowledge it represents will enable game-changing advances in analysis, research, and health interventions to truly change the state of the art in global health.

Privacy & Security
If you sign up to participate in health research (clinical trial matching and other research studies), you're agreeing to share your general medical data with Genauris and other organizations and researchers working on specific health studies.
Genauris and our research partners will only be able to see data that has been stripped of any information that could be used to identify you personally. If a research organization wants to work with you directly for a trial or other study, Genauris will contact you to get your permission before connecting you.
Nobody outside of Genauris will be able to see your complete medical records unless you choose to share them (for instance, with a doctor or other care provider). You can share your records by clicking "Share Records" on your account page.
We take your privacy very seriously at Genauris, and we'll never share your data without your permission.
Our platforms are HIPAA-compliant, with strict access controls and end-to-end encryption - similar to the technology banks use to keep your information secure.
We use a sophisticated process to prepare health data for sharing with researchers, that goes far beyond just deleting your name and contact details. We extract relevant pieces of medical information from your records - for instance, clinical reports, medications, or labs - and add them to another file with similar de-identified data from other patients.
Researchers get access to a restricted file containing general information on relevant medical conditions, patient demographics, drug names, dates, and so on that is useful to their research, but does not reveal any patient-specific information. As most of our research draws on records from hundreds or thousands of patients, there is no way to connect this information to you or any other patient.
Informed consent is the process for ethically obtaining a patient's approval to perform healthcare services or disclose health information about them. To give informed consent, an individual must have a clear understanding of the consequences of a medical procedure or the implications of sharing medical information.
Informed consent is required for any medical research to ensure that all participants know what treatment they will receive or how their medical information will be used.
Informed consents for research studies and other documents like privacy documents are often signed electronically, which means you no longer need to print and physically sign these important documents. When you sign electronically, you acknowledge that your signature is legally binding, that you are signing for yourself (and not letting anyone else use your account or password), and that you understand what you are signing (for instance, you agree to participate in a particular research trial or study after reading the informed consent document for that study).
HIPAA stands for the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act. It's a U.S. law that was passed in 1996. The law has several elements, including allowing people to transfer their health insurance when they change jobs (hence the name). In recent years, HIPAA has become better known for regulating how protected health information (PHI) must be handled to ensure privacy.
No. We do not share your health records with anyone without your explicit permission.
You may choose to delete your medical records from Genauris' platform at any time, and for any reason. To do so, click the "Delete Account" link from the login screen on your account page, or by contacting us at help@genauris.com
If you delete your account, your account and all personally identifiable data (anything that could link your health data to you) will be permanently deleted from our systems, and you will no longer be able to participate in our health marketplace.
You will have 30 days to download and save any health data you have shared with us, after which time all of your personal data will be permanently deleted.
Note that any general health data you may have already shared for research purposes cannot be removed, but that research data cannot be linked back to you in any way.
Medical Records
We put great importance in the timeliness and accuracy of your medical records. To make sure your records are as complete and current as possible, we have put in place several processes to make this as easy and seamless as possible for you and your doctor.
Doctors participating in the Genauris Health Marketplace
If your doctor or care provider has chosen to participate in the Genauris Health Marketplace, we establish a direct application data interface (API) to that doctor's health system to automatically keep your records up to date; if you visit the doctor, that visit (and any notes, imagery, prescriptions, and more) will be updated to your record on the Genauris platform. If you add a new doctor who is also part of our Marketplace, you can link that doctor to your account as well so that doctor will also receive up-to-date information on your health and any visits you have with that doctor are added to your master record.
All other doctors and care providers
If you add a doctor who is not part of our Marketplace, we will securely share your medical records with that doctor at your direction, and also reach out to that doctor on a regular basis to retrieve any new information that may have been added. If you have recently visited the doctor, you can make sure your record reflects the latest by clicking the "Request Records" link from the "Care Providers" menu on your health dashboard.
Adding a new doctor
Log into your Genauris account and navigate to the "Care Providers" section of your health dashboard. Click the "Add Provider" link and enter your doctor's contact information. Finally, click the "Request Records" link next to that doctor's name on your dashboard.
We will reach out to your doctor or other healthcare professional to request any records they have on your behalf.
No problem. When you sign up, you can add any doctors you do remember - a doctor's name and practice or location is usually enough for us to track down your records. If you can't remember the name of a specific doctor's name, a hospital or practice name and department will usually be enough.
If you remember more details about your doctor later or want to add a new doctor, you can always do so by clicking on the "Care Team" link from your Genauris health dashboard.
When you first sign up for a Genauris account, you sign a HIPAA authorization form which allows us to act on your behalf and request your medical records. This form is standard in medical offices, so they'll know how to handle the request and send us the records you need.
No. When we ask for medical records from doctors who are not part of our Health Marketplace, we ask that they bill us directly. If you get a bill in error, please send a copy of the invoice to help@genauris.com and we'll take care of it.
If your doctor is part of our Health Marketplace, we'll negotiate a special relationship with them to allow free exchange of health data for all patients who are part of both Genauris and that doctor's practice.
Health Research
It depends on the disease or condition. In general, you can join a study or trial if you live in the country that study is being conducted in, have medical records in the Genauris system, and have been diagnosed with a disease or condition that Genauris or our research partners are studying.
Clinical trials and research studies are designed around individuals with specific conditions or other characteristics that match that research effort's eligibility criteria. It is important that we confirm you actually have the condition we (or our partners) are studying; since this research is based on information collected from medical records, the easiest way for us to confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria is to review your medical records once we collect them.
Depending on the doctors we are collecting your medical records from, it may take several weeks to confirm your eligibility for a specific study or trial. To speed up the qualification process, please be sure to let us know about any specialists that you've seen that have treated your condition by adding them under the "Care Team" menu of your health dashboard.
Genauris' mission is to bring together patients, physicians, public and community health organizations, and the pharmaceutical industry to democratize health access, empower communities, and accelerate treatments for the world's most challenging health problems. Health records from patients participating in our health marketplace show the way patients really experience diseases and other health problems, and how treatments for these conditions work in the real world.
Studying the records from many patients living with the same condition helps doctors and scientists identify new and more effective methods of treatment, and develop improved ways of caring for people with health problems. By participating in health studies on the Genauris marketplace, you are helping advance the state of care for people just like you, and gaining visibility into additional care options such as alternate therapies or experimental treatments being evaluated in clinical trials that address your unique health needs.
It depends on the disease or condition. Some studies and research efforts are conducted by Genauris directly; others are sponsored by public health organizations, research organizations, or even global pharmaceutical companies. Research can include everything from studies of broad, de-identified health data to identify trends and help decisionmakers better serve community needs, to targeted clinical trials that test how effective a new treatment or therapy will be in treating a specific disease or condition in a small part of the population. Regardless of who sponsors a particular study (whether an academic, government, or commercial organization), all studies are overseen by an independent review board (IRB) to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Most importantly, you are always in control. Your own information is only used with your permission (you must opt-in to participate), and Genauris will get your explicit consent before connecting you with researchers or other organizations that would like to use your more complete health records. You can decide to end your participation in studies at any time, and Genauris will delete your personally identifiable information from our systems at your request.
Yes - we believe it's extremely important that you can see the results of any health studies produced using your records. We will make every effort to share published study results back with you.
Yes - your participation in research studies is completely voluntary and you can withdraw at any time. If you choose not to participate in research studies (or the Genauris health marketplace more broadly), your health records will still remain available to you via your Genauris account but will no longer be shared for research purposes.
You can instruct Genauris to close your account and delete your health records at any time, and we will do so - though any de-identified information that has already been shared with researchers for previous studies cannot be deleted.
Genauris Marketplace
The Genauris Health Marketplace is a common platform where patients, physicians, community and public health organizations, and industry can connect with one another to share and exchange health data, research opportunities, and curated health services. The platform is initially launching in the United States but our goal is to serve participants and communities globally - anywhere we are legally allowed to operate.
Patients who participate in the marketplace can choose how involved they want to be; they can indicate their willingness to participate in health research studies and even clinical trials of new therapies, should research opportunities match their unique health conditions. Some studies offer compensation to participants; others only reimbursement of costs, and yet others do not offer compensation but help advance the state of understanding and care for unique health conditions. They can also find and connect with additional resources in their area (physicians, public and community health services, etc.) to improve their access to care and other related support for their continued health.
Physicians and other care providers participating in the marketplace will be visible to interested patients (for instance, patients can easily find a new doctor or specialist in their area). By integrating their health information system with Genauris' platform, they can seamlessly access the most complete, up-to-date health records available for their patients without the administrative burden of maintaining those records themselves, and gain additional insights to improve and personalize their patients' care.
Public health organizations can offer specific services to patients in the communities they serve - for instance, local support for managing health problems - and even connections to other resources such as food, transportation, and childcare where those services are available. The marketplace also gives these organizations insights into the unique health needs of patients in their community and positions them to conduct health research of their own to improve the effectiveness of care initiatives.
Pharma and industry gain visibility and access to a broad community of patients with a range of health conditions and personal circumstances that they can connect with to conduct health research, test new therapies and drugs, and better serve high-priority and emerging health conditions across a wide variety of populations and regions.
